About

What this site is

AI is changing things faster than most of us can take in, and some of the risks are hard to believe. Dangerous Robot tries to take both seriously without getting carried away. It gathers what is known about AI's dangers, lists every source so you can check it, and points to what you can do.

It is also a place to learn. If you want to understand how these tools work and where they fall short, the guides and resources here are a starting point, and they link to good material elsewhere.

Behind the scenes, the site is building an automated research project to shine a light on the tech industry; it is early, and those pages are marked beta.

Where it stands

People disagree about AI, sometimes sharply, and this site makes room for that. It starts from four positions, explained on the Values page:

  • AI safety is unsolved.
  • AI is fueling environmental destruction.
  • AI outcomes are being decided by a small group of people.
  • Staying human and connected to each other will be essential.

How it is made

Dangerous Robot is built with the help of AI. Agents search for sources and draft each verdict. A human reviews and approves every claim before it is published, and every source is listed so you can check it. The aim is to use AI where it helps and keep the judgment human. The pipeline and the models it uses are described in the methodology section.

Who runs this

Brandon Faloona (brandon-f) runs Dangerous Robot. He also makes TreadLightlyAI, an AI chatbot. When TreadLightlyAI shows up here, it is held to the same criteria and sources as every other product, and the site does not publish verdicts on claims about it.
